Versatile in terms of style and function
Versatility of Tile
We at McCall’s Carpet One carry a large selection of tiles in our Nashville, TN store. Tiles are versatile because they are available in so many different sizes and colors, and because they can be used in a variety of settings.
The most obvious use of tiles is on floors. Floor tiles are thick to withstand foot traffic and most potential drops and falls. They are water and heat resistant, so floor tiles are suitable for areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. We recommend ceramic tiles for floors since they are durable and more stylish.
Floor tiles are typically not noted for their design options, but they are available in different colors, shapes, and sizes.
Wall tiles are usually thinner than floor tiles since durability against foot traffic is not an issue. They also tend to be smaller to accommodate small spaces. Wall tiles are practical in kitchens and bathrooms because water and heat resistance is necessary. Ceramic tiles are suitable for walls, but for extra moist areas such as showers, porcelain tiles are better. Given the smaller sizes, wall tiles have more design options than floor tiles.
Another popular place for tiles is on backsplashes. Backsplash tiles are often found in kitchens, and they emphasize design above all. These tiles can form intricate designs (some of which even look like pictures!) that you can of course come up with on your own. Mosaic tiles, because of their sizes, colors, and shines, can be used in backsplashes.
